Thousands of Syrian families around the world are living in limbo. Waiting for a phone call about the fate of their loved ones who are detained or disappeared.

Families of the missing will gather on the cobbles of Bebelplatz in Berlin on Saturday 28th August – as a call to governments to do more to seek information about the tens of thousands of Syrians who are detained and forcibly disappeared by the Syrian regime and other armed groups in Syria, which amounts to crimes against humanity.

Tens of thousands of Syrians have been arbitrarily detained or forcibly disappeared throughout the country, the vast majority of them at the hands of the Syrian regime. The real number could be double or triple this, as many families refrain from registering their missing loved ones with groups documenting human rights violations out of fear for their safety.

Join us in Berlin to mark International Day of the Disappeared and stand in solidarity with everyone brutally detained and disappeared in Syria. Together, we will demand the families' right to know, and call for an end to the use of forced disappearance.
We look forward to seeing you there.

*We ask you to follow Berlin’s regulations on the prevention of COVID-19, and maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters and wear a medical mask. Additionally, to protect our guests, we ask that if you are not fully vaccinated yet, you have a PoC antigen test beforehand (Schnelltest).
